11 arrested for election related offences

11 individuals have been arrested for offenses related to the Local Government election as of yesterday. The suspects had disobeyed election laws and acted in aggressive manners, the head of the police election secretariat, senior DIG Gamini Nawarathna said.


The number of complaints being received regarding election related incidents and violations have decreased compared to past elections, he stressed.


The Deputy Inspector General further added that programs to educate candidates of the election laws still continue through the guidance of police stations islandwide.
