12,000 kg of hidden rice found in Pettah

The Cooperatives and Internal Trade Ministry following a raid conducted at Fourth Cross Street in Pettah have discovered a large stock of rice hidden by a group of traders.


While almost 12,000 kg of rice had been found hidden in a store during the raid, proper legal action will be taken against the traders involved in this, the Ministry stated.


The Cooperatives and Internal Trade Ministry also revealed that 210 such raid had been carried out in the past couple of days.
