It has been almost 2 months since the new school term for this year has started but the government has still not provided a single child with school uniforms, said Tissa Attanayake at a press briefing today (February 15).
Although distributing school uniforms within a couple days after school begins is a tradition honored yearly, the government and the Education Ministry has failed even at this, he pointed out.
The United National Party (UNP) General Secretary also accused that the government does not have an organized process to distribute school uniforms, required by 4 million school children.
Even though the government has stated that a difficult situation has risen in providing with uniforms due to suppliers increasing prices, it cannot be accepted, Tissa Attanayake stated.
