Flood affected govt. servants granted loan extension

The government has decided to extend the period of repayment of emergency disaster loans provided to government employees affected by floods and earth slips. The time period has been extended from the earlier announced 10 months to 24 months.
The decision had been made at a meeting of trade union representatives held at the Temple Trees yesterday (February 14) and presided over by President Mahinda Rajapakse.
The President has also instructed the relevant officials to take immediate measures to resolve the salary anomalies and other problem presented by the trade union, President’s media states.
The President has also instructed the officials to provide relief to the government servants confronted by the problems relating to the official languages policy. He also pointed out that the energies and skills of the government employees could be effectively deployed for state service through systematic training programs.
