Appeals Court gives order on UPFA petition

The Appeals Court gave an order to stop the Local government elections for the Pradeshiya Sabhas in the Akuressa, Monaragala and Akmeemana areas after studying a petition brought forward by the UPFA and an independent group today.

 

Two petitions were presented by the UPFA against the rejections of their nomination papers in Monaragala and Akmeemana while an Independent group submitted a petition against the rejection of nomination papers in Akuressa.

 

The petitions will be taken up in courts again on February 24.
