The UPFA government did not have any plan for the minorities in this country and they were neglecting the needs of the plantation people, accused UNP Parliamentarian R. Yogarajan. Any amount of discussions with the government did not bring out any active programs for these people, he expressed.
And so I thought it was time the Ceylon Workers’ Congress (CWC) took a decision to leave the government, but the party (CWC) did not accept that, the former National Organizer of the CWC stated.
The Parliamentarian revealed that at the time of the presidential election he felt it was opportune for him to take his own stand and therefore he decided to leave the CWC and joined the United National Party (UNP).
In regard to his preference of UNP leadership Mr. Yogarajan said “Personally I have great faith on Ranil Wickramasinghe”
“And that is the reason I persuaded the CWC in 2005 to leave the government and come over and support his (Ranil Wickramasinghe) candidacy for the presidency” the UNP National List MP pointed out. “He almost won it”
Speaking to Ada Derana in an exclusively interview R. Yogarajan said “Last year I took a firm decision to leave the CWC after 20 years of association and join the UNP. Because I believed that a government under Ranil Wickramasinghe can be created after the presidential election.”
“And I feel that he is the only leader in the country who has a vision for this country.”
