Prabhakaran’s mother dies in VVT

Parvathi Ammal, mother of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran died this morning (February 20) at the Valvetithurai Hospital where she was receiving treatment, said former Parliamentarian M.K. Sivajilingam.
Date and time for final rites have not been decided upon yet as her children who are living overseas are expected to arrive, said Mr. Sivajilingam.
Parvathi Ammal, along with her husband was earlier under Sri Lankan Military care at Panagoda after the end of the conflict. After her husband’s death she went overseas and later returned to Sri Lanka due to ill health and was being cared for at the VVT Hospital. She drew large crowds of all races in Sri Lanka, while on their way to the north who made it a point to visit her in hospital.
