Musical instruments including the ever popular ‘papare’ bands have been allowed into ICC World Cup venues, according to Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage. There was a massive public outcry against the ban on a list of items including musical instruments from World Cup Venues by the IGP on February 18.
Inspector General of Police Mahinda Balasuriya on February 18 announced that a list of items such as banners, placards, musical instruments, glass bottles, crackers, laser lights and sharp instruments will prohibited from all World Cup venues. (VIDEO ABOVE)
However due to appeals by cricket lovers, placards and banners promoting cricket or cricketers were permitted by the IGP yesterday.
