VIDEO: Sri Lanka to launch first ever Eye-Bank tomorrow

President Mahinda Rajapakse will declare open Sri Lanka’s first ever Eye Bank at the Eye Hospital tomorrow (February 24) in Colombo. The services of the eye bank will be available to domestic patients as well as foreign patients, Additional Secretary of the Health Ministry Dr. Palitha Maheepala stated.

 

He added that around 280 eye surgeries are performed in Sri Lanka each year while this bank will allow expand the number of surgeries.


The bank was opened with the assistance of the government of Singapore along with with other parties while a sum of Rs.30 million has been set aside for the project.
