Govt. sends ship to evacuate Lankans from Libya

The Sri Lankan Government has sent a ship to evacuate Lankans stranded in Libya and other countries, Cabinet spokesman has said, the Government information Department reports.


Yesterday the Ministry of External Affairs said that it is in close coordination with Sri Lanka Embassies in Libya, Egypt and Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment in order to ensure the safety, security and welfare of Sri Lankan expatriates in Libya, states a Ministry media release.


All arrangements have been put in place for the evacuation of Sri Lankans should the necessity arises. The Ministry is monitoring the situation and is also in constant touch with the Libyan Mission in Colombo, adds the release.
