Buses displaying campaign posters to be seized

Measures are being taken to seize all public busses which display any campaign posters ahead of the local government elections, the Police Elections Secretariat stated. All busses that have displayed these posters have been informed that they should remove them immediately, DIG Elections Gamini Navaratne said.
He added that several complaints have been made against buses that continue to display these posters and that they will be taken into custody by the Police while legal action will be taken against the bus operators.
Meanwhile, complaints have been made against 92 individuals in relation to the elections while 75 general complaints have been made regarding the local government elections, five of which are related to clashes between political groups.
