Election advertising removed by March

Posters, cutouts and banners that have been displayed in public in relation to the forthcoming Local Government election have to be removed before March 01, the Police Elections Secretariat stated.


Senior DIG Gamini Navaratne who is in charge of the Police Elections Secretariat says that large amounts of posters, cutouts and banners for the election have been displayed in several parts of the island.


“Instructions have already been issued for the removal of all these as they are a violation of election laws” the Senior DIG stated and pointed out that the posters, cutouts and banners have to be removed before March 01.


If they are not removed by then the police will take necessary steps to remove all these, he further expressed.
