One dead, 4 injured after Police vehicle meets with accident

One person is reported dead and four others injured and admitted to the Ratnapura Hospital after a police back-up vehicle met with an accident at Sannasgama along the Colombo-Badulla road this evening (February 27).


The Police vehicle providing security to some officials of the Police Seva Vanitha Unit returning from Kataragama after an official function had knocked a motor cyclist at Sannasgama and had gone out of control. The vehicle had rammed against a nearby boutique injuring the four persons, according to the Police media spokesman.

The motor cyclist had reportedly succumbed to the injuries following the accident.
