Three more petitions regarding nominations rejected

Following extensive examination the Court of Appeal has decided to reject 3 petitions filed against the rejection of nomination papers. Court stated that the petitions will be rejected as there is no clear reason to take them up for hearing.


The petitions filed were by the United National Party for the Eravur Pradeshiya Sabha, by the Lanka Sama Samaja Party for the Kuchchaveli Pradeshiya Sabha and by and by an independent group for the Kanthale Pradeshiya Sabha.


The verdict was issued today (March 14) by Judges Sathya Hettige, President of the Court of Appeal and Upali Abeyratne.
