The Governments of Japan and Sri Lanka have agreed to amend the schedule attached to the Agreement between the Government of Japan and the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka for Air Services, says the Japanese Embassy in Colombo.

The Embessy further adds that the Exchange of Notes to this effect was signed between H.E. Mr. Kunio Takahashi, Ambassador of Japan and Mr. K.V.P. Ranjith de Silva, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation at the Embassy of Japan.

With this amendment, flight routes operated by designated airlines of Japan and Sri Lanka will be liberated in principle, at the specified locations in Japan, Sri Lanka, intermediate points and points beyond.

Ambassador Takahashi said, “I believe this amendment is expected to open up an opportunity for operating new flights and thereby strengthening links between the two countries in various fields.”
