UNP to name LG heads by March 24

The United National Party (UNP) says that it will complete selections of heads for the Local Government bodies it had won before March 24. The UNP had gained power in 09 LG bodies in the recent election.


The General Secretary of the UNP, Tissa Attanayake expressed that, the selecting of heads for those institutions is presently underway while the number of preferential vote obtained, seniority and services rendered for the party will all be considered before naming the selections.


Meanwhile, the appointing of opposition leaders for the other LG bodies will also be completed soon, Attanayake said.
