The Ministry of Health is to take legal action against 338 individuals following inspections carried out on possible dengue mosquito breeding areas coinciding with the National Dengue Prevention Week.

These inspections had been carried out yesterday (March 24) in several areas that are possibly breeding dengue mosquitoes. Bus depots, tire retailers, automobile parts dealers and railway stations were the main focus during yesterday’s inspection, said the Ministry.

While 9,853 locations were inspected, 5,363 had been identified as possible mosquito breeding grounds. Mosquito hotbeds were discovered along with mosquito larvae in 788 locations and therefore notices were issued on 338 individuals.

Meanwhile, all schools are scheduled to be inspected today (March 25) for mosquito breeding grounds.
