VIDEO: Train derailment hinders upcountry travel

A train has derailed close to the Watagoda railway station while traveling from Nanuoya towards Kandy. The derailment, which had occurred around 6am today (March 25), has affected travel along the upcountry railway line, according to the Railway Control Room.
Therefore, trains traveling in the upcountry railway line from Colombo have been restricted to Thalawakele, whilst trains from Badulla have been restricted to the Watagoda railway station.
The Railway Control Room further added that a crew is presently working to get the cars of the derailed train, a goods transporting train, back on the track.
