The credit for Sri Lanka’s comprehensive ten wicket win over England at the quarter-final of the World Cup last night should go to the bowlers, opening batsman and centurion Tillakeratna Dilshan told Ada Derana.
He said that it was to the bowlers’ credit that England were restricted to 229 allowing Sri Lanka to easily chase down the simple target. Dilshan added that despite not being able to consistently hand Sri Lanka a good start with the bat over the group games he was pleased with his performance yesterday.
Dilshan was pleased that he was able to fulfil an objective of his own and see out a game without conceding his wicket while he stated that this performance will give him the mental confidence needed for the next game.
He further stated that the support from the Sri Lankan fans was a great strength to the team and admired the throngs that showed up for the matches in support.
