Court rejects case against “Dada Keliya”

March 28, 2011   12:03 pm

The case filed against Dayawansa Jayakody Book Publishers over the publication of the book “Dada Keliya” was rejected by the Colombo District Court today (March 28). The book is purportedly based on the highly controversial Adlin Vitharana murder trial in 1959.

The case had been filed by the daughter of Adlin Vitarana stating that the book was defamatory of her mother and family members, thereby requesting that the book be banned and also Rs.3 million in compensation.

However, the Colombo District Court after hearing the case issued a verdict stating that the publication of the book under the title “Dada Keliya” would not defame anyone.
