The Ceylon Electricity Board says that there is no truth in the rumors currently being spread alleging that power generation operations at the Kerawalapitiya Power Plant have halted.

Power generation at the Kerawalapitiya Power Plant is presently proceeding as usual, Chairman of the CEB Vidya Amarapala said.

He admitted that there had been a crisis in the past several days due to not receiving heavy fuel, needed to generate power, from the Petroleum Corporation. However, he added that the CEB was able to resolve the issue.

A sum of Rs.460 million was paid to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) in order to recommence the supplying of fuel to the Kerawalapitiya Power Plant, Vidya Amarapala expressed.
