The Ceylon Electricity Board has suffered losses amounting to Rs.100 million as a result of the Kerawalapitiya Yugadanavi Power Plant not operating for 10 days, according to the Power and Energy Ministry.

A statement issued by the Ministry states that due to the Thermal Power Plant not operating for the past 10 days, the CEB has had to purchase the electricity through private sector power plants at costly prices in order to fulfill the demand.

The loss suffered by the Ceylon Electricity Board due to this within the past 10 days is Rs.100 million, the Ministry revealed.
