Jayalalithaa criticises Karunanidhi on Sri Lankan Tamils issue

Coimbatore, Apr 6 (PTI): AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa today said the killing of Tamils in Sri Lanka could have been avoided had Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, whose party DMK was supporting the UPA government at the Centre, seriously considered withdrawing support to it.

Lives of thousands of Sri Lankan Tamils could have been saved had Karunanidhi seriously considered withdrawing support to the Centre instead of threatening to withdraw support to it, as he was doing frequently, she said addressing a well- attended election meeting here.

Seeking support to AIADMK’s front’s candidates, she alleged Karunanidhi was only interested in the welfare of his family members and not that of the people of the state.

The April 13 assembly poll is a chance to end the “misrule of Karunanidhi and his family”, she said.
