Four nabbed in major Credit Card Scam

A large scale credit card fraud was unearthed by the Criminal Investigation Department yesterday. The suspects had used local and international credit card information in order to engage in illegal transactions.

The CID had unearthed this large scale fraud due to complaints received from a number of private banks and complaints lodged by customers of fuel stations in areas such as Colombo, Rathmalana, Paliyagoda and Ja ela.

One suspect who is said to be a resident of Trincomalee was arrested at a fuel station in Rathmalana. He was allegedly in possession of a number of credit cards and tools which were used by the suspects for the scam.

The Police were also able to arrest two more suspects who were involved in the crime from the areas of Beruwala and Rathmalana. The Police stated that yet another suspect who was hiding in the Kalawanchikudi area was arrested yesterday.

The suspects are currently in police custody and the CID is involved in further investigations.
