CDB makes new appointments to Board

Citizens’ Development Business Finance PLC (CDB) made several key changes to its Board of Directors with its reinforced strategic focus on the targets for 2011-2020 as the “decade of accelerated growth” within the context of post-war Sri Lanka.

 

CDB’s CEO Mahesh Nanayakkara has been re-designated as Managing Director/CEO. Four new Executive Directors have been appointed from the corporate management team.

 

Damith Tennakoon who heads CDB’s Finance Division of CDB since 2003 has been appointed Chief Financial Officer / Director. Tennakoon is a Management Accountant counting over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry.

 

Malcolm Weerasuriya who joined CDB in 2000 has been appointed as the Chief Marketing Officer / Director overlooking sales and marketing. He holds a B.Com (Sp Hons) Degree from the University of Colombo and a Postgraduate Diploma (Mgt). Weerasuriya counts over 20 years of experience in sales and marketing in the financial services Industry.

 

Sasindra Munasinghe who joined CDB in 2001 and was overlooking credit/leasing has been appointed as Chief Credit Officer / Director. Munasinghe counts over 19 years experience in the credit and leasing industry including credit evaluation, recoveries, operations, system implementation and marketing.

 

Roshan Abeygoonewardena who joined CDB in 2005 and was overlooking operations has been appointed as Chief Operations Officer / Director. He is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK) and Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka. He is also a member of Institute of Certified Professional Managers. Abeygoonewardena counts over 20 years experience, 16 years in the financial services industry and 4 years in the manufacturing industry.

 

Three new alternate directors namely Herschel Gunawardena, P.A. Joseph Jayawardena and Ranga Abeynayake have also been appointed.

 

Herschel Gunawardena has been appointed as an Alternate Director to R. Renganathan (Chairman). Gunawardena is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, U.K. and a former Council Member of the Sri Lanka Branch of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. He has over 35 years experience in the industry including, shipping, airline, mining, export and import trading. He is an ‘Independent’ non-executive Director of Ceylinco Insurance PLC.

 

P. A. Joseph Jayawardena has been appointed as an Alternate Director to E. T. L. Ranasinghe. He is a Fellow member of the Life Underwriter Training Council (USA), a member of the Chartered Insurance Agency Manager and Chartered Marketing Financial Advisor. He serves as Deputy General Manager – Business Development of Ceylinco Insurance PLC.

 

Ranga Abeynayake has been appointed as an Alternate Director to P.A. Jayawardena. Abeynayake counts 15 years of experience in the financial field. He holds a MBA from the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is also a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka. He serves on the Board of Ceylinco Insurance PLC in an executive capacity.
