Teachers in Matale face severe difficulties

Teachers in the Matale Education Zone are facing severe difficulties due to salary arrears which have not been paid yet.
Wilton Munasingha Chairman of the Sri Lanka National Teacher’s Association Rattota Division stated that there has been a delay in the payment of salary arrears since 2005.
He further stated that some teachers have not received their salary increments in about 4 years.
A senior official of the Matale Zonal Education Office stated that steps have already been taken to look into the matter and that overdue arrears and salary increments will be paid within the next few months.
