The Court of Appeals today (May 03) issued notice to the Commissioner General of Prisons for not producing Sarath Fonseka - currently imprisoned - before the court at the ordered time.
Appeal Court had previously ordered the Commissioner General to produce Fonseka in court at 1.30pm today for the hearing of the petition filed by the former Army Chief against abolishing his parliamentary membership.
However, when the case was called forth at the said time today Fonseka was absent at court.
The judge panel then issued notice for the Prisons Commissioner General, Major General V. R. De Silva to appear before court on May 09 and explain in regard to neglecting a court directive.
