VIDEO: UN report based on hear-say evidence

We can very easily respond to the allegations that have been brought forward in the UN Expert Panel Report which has been based on ‘hear-say’ evidence, government Minister Nimal Siripala DeSilva stated today (May 5).

Speaking at a press conference held at the Mahaweli Centre in Colombo today, the Minister claimed that the hear-say evidence that the controversial Darusman Report was based on would never be accepted in a court of law.

He stated that the report itself states that the panel had not embarked upon an investigation procedure into the matter and added that the panel neither had the authority or a mechanism by which to conduct such an investigation.
