Not possible to hold LG polls on May 30

The government says that elections for the remainder of Local Government bodies cannot be held on May 30 as previously declared. Holding of these elections depend on the court verdict, Deputy Minister Indika Bandaranayake said in response to a query by Ada Derana.
The Deputy Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government stressed that the advice of the court would be received if any issues would surface if the date of the polls were to be changed.
As polls are being held for several LG institutions it cannot be hurried, he said.
