Promise to resign no longer counts, says Pushpakumara

May 7, 2011   11:12 am

Minister Jagath Pushpakumara says that the promise he had made to resign if he failed to provide coconuts at an affordable price, is not valid anymore. Coconut prices are presently at a reasonable state, the Minister of Coconut Development and Janatha Estate Development reasoned.

Attending the launch of a coconut cultivation programme in Minipe, Pushpakumara reminded the people of the promise made by him to resign if he was unable to provide coconuts to the public at a low cost.

"Not only to provide consumers with coconuts at reasonable prices, we have also managed to provide reasonable prices to cultivators," he pointed out.
