The water supply suspended to several areas in close proximity to Colombo has been fully restored by now, the Water Supply and Drainage Board informed Ada Derana.
The water supply to all areas including Pannipitiya was resumed at 7am yesterday (May 08), although supplying water to certain highland areas could consume time, the Board had previously claimed.
However adaderana.lk readers who commented on earlier articles had claimed that even today (09) morning the water cut had prevailed.
Therefore authorities were once again contacted and queried on the matter to which they responded that the water supply to all areas affected by the water cut has been fully restored.
If a shortage of water is still experienced in any vicinity, it cannot be due to an issue of the (Water) Board, Shiromi Karunathilaka Public Relations Officer of the Water Supply and Drainage Board told Ada Derana.
“Contact the Water Board without delay and inform of such a water shortage” she advised the public.
The water supply to Pannipitiya, Rukmalgama, Mattegoda, Pelenwatte, Kesbewa and the main road from Piliyandala to Boralesgamuwa had been disrupted on Friday (06) night as a result of a damage to the main water line from Kalatuwawa to Dehiwala at Maharagama.
