Homes within six months for residents in Slave Island

The residents of the houses that were demolished recently in the Slave Island area will receive new homes within six months, the Attorney General informed Supreme Court when the petition of 17 such home owners was brought before the courts.
Solicitor General Shavindra Fernando informed the courts that houses are currently being constructed in Dematagoda for those who lost their homes in Slave Island while the residents have been given compensation to find temporary lodging until the construction is complete.
The petition will be taken up again on July 26.
