The Sri Lanka National Child Protection Authority says that during the past 10 months alone 4,200 cases have been filed following complaints regarding children. The Authority has received more than 30,000 complaints during the same period, says its chairperson.

Child Protection Authority chairperson Attorney Anoma Dissanayake says that due to unavailability of adequate facts, the Authority has been unable to proceed with legal actions. She urged the public to provide necessary facts to assist the Authority in taking legal action against those against whom such complaints are made.
