The 35 year old Mable Perera from Madampe left Sri Lanka last year seeking employment in the Middle-East. She worked in around ten homes within her five months in the Middle-East and was allegedly assaulted by each of her employers.
She returned to the island in February after which she sought medical attention at the Chilaw Hospital but her injuries left her lifeless and unable to find employment elsewhere.
She also stated that although she is insured by the Foreign Employment Bureau (FEB) she has received no financial cover from the FEB as yet. She further stated that her husband had given the Foreign Employment Representative a sum of Rs.100,000 to bring her back to Sri Lanka.
