Health Ministry issues new regulations regarding shelf-life of imported food

The import regulations for food items have been changed with effect from August 1 the Health Ministry said today. The new regulations have been imposed with regard to the shelf life of imported food items.
Under the new regulations imported food items will have to reach the country before 40 percent of its shelf life has lapsed. The regulations will be applicable to all food items except fresh fruits, vegetables and potatoes.
