An appropriate inquiry will be conducted into the trade union action commenced by train driver’s assistants, Railways General Manager A. G. Mahanama stated. He said that the incident causing the strike will be discussed with the relevant parties today (May 20).

Is said that railway driver’s assistants had resorted to the union action on Thursday (18) in protest over the alleged assault on a fellow worker.

However, necessary measures have been taken to ensure that train transportation continues as usual, Mr Mahanama added.
