Colombo, May 2011: Showing their appreciation for yet another year, Douglas and Sons (Pvt) Limited (DSL) hosted their dealers to a glittering Awards Night at Centara Grand at Central World, in the fascinating city of Bangkok last week. Douglas & Sons (Pvt.) Limited GT Awards Night is the most prestigious awards night in the tyre industry.

Speaking at this Convention, Mr. Saroj Perera, Chairman/Managing Director, Douglas & Sons (Pvt) Limited said, “As usual, it is not my intention to emphasize what these GT Awards means to us and all our dealers. The hard work and the mutual understanding between DSL and GT is an amazing example that speaks for itself.”

Boasting Sri Lanka’s finest network of dealers, Douglas and Sons (Pvt) Limited (DSL) has long been famed for constantly recognizing and rewarding their consistent service and commitment and 2011 is no exception. Year on year, GT tyres have been endorsed as the undisputed leader in the imported tyre segment, surpassing record sales of 2.5 million tyres. “This is a clear indication of the trust and confidence placed on GT by the motoring public in Sri Lanka,” Mr. Perera added.

He commended the GT team from Indonesia comprising of Mr. Chistopher Chan – President Director, PT Gaja Tungaal Tbk. Mr. Buddy Tanashleh - Vice President Director, Mr. William Gozali, General Manager – Exports, and Mr. Y.C. Chong, Executive Deputy General Manager from GITI TIRE (China) Investment Company Ltd. for taking the GT brand worldwide.

Further, he noted that the company continues to see growth in many areas due to the solid contributions of its dealer network. DSL has grown from a very small start to being the market leader in imported tyres, automotive batteries, and in automotive spare parts, employing 225 individuals and reaching far and wide across Sri Lanka via a strong dealer network of 1500 dealers. The company is also a leading manufacturer and supplier of soft toys for the international market, through famous retail chains such as Marks and Spencer, Harrods, ASDA and Hamleys to name a few.
