A delegation from the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) is set to arrive in the country to look into the court proceedings of the ongoing trails against DNA leader Sarath Fonseka, UNP MP Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena stated.
Speaking at a press conference at the Opposition Leader’s office today (May 24) he said that the IPU representatives will arrive in Sri Lanka in June, as confirmed in writing.
“Not only regarding Sarath Fonseka, the Inter-Parliamentary Union has been informed of the repeated attacks and various harassment faced by parliamentarians of the opposition.”
Therefore I believe they would direct their attention towards those issues as well, Jayalath mentioned.
