Despite holding talks with President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday (May 25) the Federation of University Lecturers (FUTA) claim that the problems regarding their wage demands have yet to be resolved while both parties have agreed to hold further talks.

Spokesman for FUTA, Dr. Mahim Mendis stated that none of the problems were resolved during these talks with the President while adding that the aggrieved lecturers will not back down on their union action.

The President’s Media stated that the federation was willing to compromise on their demands taking the country’s current situation into consideration.
