The JVP alleged that a group of party supporters who were engaged in pasting posters were taken into custody by the Police. JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that the seven members were arrested in the Killinochchi area by the military police.

Dissanayake stated that the posters highlighted issues such as suspension of the Emergency Law, the release of Tamil political prisoners, freedom of journalists and the release of General Sarath Fonseka.

He further added that the government does not allow any political party to carry out it’s activities in a free and democratic manner.
