VIDEO: One-man committee appointed to look into FTZ clash

A one-man committee has been appointed to look into the violent clashes which erupted in the Katunayake FTZ yesterday, says Minister Keheliya Rambukwella. He said that the task has been assigned to former Supreme Court Judge Mahanama Tillakaratne as instructed by the President.
Speaking to media at a special press conference held today (May 31) the Minister of Mass Media and Information revealed that the committee has been instructed to submit its report to the President within a period of 05 days.
Appropriate action will be taken against the individuals found guilty, through the information received in the report, Rambukwella stated "if found (through the report) that the workers had been pressures in any manner, we will not hesitate to take strong decisions regarding them.”
Several factory employees and police officers had been injured yesterday following a tense situation which arose yesterday during a protest in the Katunayake Free Trade Zone against the proposed pension scheme for the private sector.
