Federation of University Teachers Association (FUTA) stated that they have taken steps to continue with their trade union action despite an interim order issued by the Court of Appeal.

Chairman of the Association Professor Nirmal Ranjith stated that an interim order was issued against lectures from voluntary administrative posts ordering that their letters of resignation be declined.  He stated that this will not hamper their trade union actions.

He further added that however representatives of the association are scheduled to meet President Mahinda Rajapaksha tomorrow in order to further discuss this issue.
