FTZ to reopen tomorrow

The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka said that the Katunayaka Free Trade Zone which was temporarily closed following protests by employees is to be opened tomorrow. The Government decided to temporarily close down the Katunayaka free trade zone from Monday for three days in order to maintain peace and order in the zone.

 

 Executive Director of the Board Sunil de Silva stated that steps have been taken to reconstruct the factories that sustained damage as a result of the clashes that occurred between the Police and the FTZ employees on Monday.

 

Meanwhile it is reported that Health Minister Maithreepala Sirisena visited those who had sustained injuries due to the clash at the Ragama Hospital.

 

Roshan Chanaka, one of the protestors who was injured during the clash and is said to be in a critical condition is currently receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the Ragama Hospital.

 

However the Director of the Hospital did not reveal any names of those who had sustained injuries.
