June 2, 2011   10:14 am

The government is responsible for the death of an employee of the Katunayaka Free Trade Zone (FTZ) yesterday (June 1) following a clash with the police on Monday, Inter-Company Employees Union President, Wasantha Samarasinghe said.

He also said that there will be an island-wide protest campaign today (May 2) where black flags will be hung outside all private companies.

Samarasinghe also requested the rest of the public to show support for this campaign against the injustice that had occurred

The Government Information Department stated that there were certain forces that were creating disharmony amongst the people for political gain while sacrificing innocent workers to serve their agenda.

It also stated that the government would not impose any law or policy against the people’s will.
