The body of the Free Trade Zone worker who was killed earlier this week after the clash with police during a protest was buried a short while ago at Minuwangoda.

Roshan Chanaka was taken to the Gal-Oluwa Church in Minuwangoda today (June 4) morning to perform the final religious rituals as the religious rituals could not be conducted at his home.

The 24-year-old was injured during the clash with police on Monday and succumbed to his injuries at the emergency ward of the Ragama Hospital.

The clash between the workers and police officers took place during a protest against the draft private sector pension bill which was completely withdrawn by the government afterwards.

President Mahinda Rajapakse yesterday directed the Chairman of the BOI to pay a sum of Rs. 1 million to Roshan’s family.
