20 female J’pura Uni students suspended

More than 20 female students of the Sri Jayawardenapura University have been temporarily suspended for organizing protest campaigns around the island and causing unrest according to the University authorities, convener of the Jayawardenapura University Students Union Venerable Kamburugamuwe Gnanessara stated.

 

He further stated that another male student had been arrested by the Mirihana Police over false accusations as part of the government’s attempt to suppress the university student movement. A protest against these incidents will be conducted today (June 8) outside the University premises.
