KOCHI: The probe into the activities of Sri Lankan human trafficking rackets in Kerala assumed wider proportions with a team of officials from Tamil Nadu Q Branch arriving in Kochi on Thursday to collect more information.

The Q Branch team has landed to collect details about the two kingpins of the racket who were reportedly arrested by the city police. The arrested were John Kennedy and Sunil of Kollachil.

Police said the Q Branch team also questioned the Lankan Tamils, who were in the city to board a fishing boat to set sail to Australia.

“Four officials of the Q Branch interrogated the Tamils to gather details about them,” said Central Circle Inspector D S Suneesh Babu, who took the Tamils into custody from the city the other day. Police said the kingpins coordinated the activities of the human trafficking racket after collecting money from the agents.

“We have the evidence on the money transactions that took place between the agents to finalise the preparations for taking the Tamils to Australia,” police said, Express News Service reported.
