Gang of robbers led by prison inmate, two arrested

Officers of the Kandy Police Crime Investigation Unit have apprehended two members of an organized gang of robbers, purportedly led by an inmate of the Negombo Prison.  


A sum of Rs.2.5 million found in the possession of the arrested suspects was also seized by the police.


Information has been uncovered that the two suspects were involved in the recent robbery which took place in the Pilimatalawa town, police informed.


While the two suspects are scheduled to be presented before the Kandy Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (June 13) police have commenced investigations regarding the inmate that had controlled the notorious band of robbers.
