The Federation of University Teachers’ Association (FUTA) says it has officially informed the Examinations Commissioner on university lecturers’ withdrawal from 2011 G.C.E. A/L paper marking.
The academics had opted to abstain from paper marking of the forthcoming Advanced Level examination due to receiving no acceptable response from authorities regarding the issue of an increase in wages.
Although discussions are ongoing regarding the issue, there has not been any positive progress in the talks, FUTA President Dr. Nirmal Ranjith Devasiri said.
Therefore we have decided to inform the Commissioner on our next trade union action, which is to abstain from paper marking, he added.
