Troubled farmers erect tomato Pandol for Poson

Farmers in the Galabada area in Walapane have constructed a Poson Pandol made out of tomatoes. The Pandol has been erected in protest of the various difficulties faced by farmers owing to the decrease in tomato prices, Ada Derana reporter stated.
The tomato cultivators point out that currently one kilogram of tomatoes cannot be sold for even 05 rupees.
A large number of farmers had opted to cultivate tomatoes due to its price increasing last year. However it has been reported recently that they have had to face great difficulties after prices were dropped while farmers have even given up harvesting their crop.
